Around the World in Eighty Days
A fast paced farce for the fleet of foot!

A collaboration with Blue Apple, one of South-west England’s leading disability arts providers, Around The World In Eighty Days featured a cast of 35 people, 25 of whom had some degree of learning disability.

The Time Machine
A community project loosely based on the novel by H.G.Wells
A series of inclusive performance workshops in Winchester. Working with over 50 people of all ages and abilities the sessions were held in collaboration with Theatre Royal Winchester, Winchester YMCA and the Performing Arts Dept. of the University of Winchester.
Encompassing drama games, chorus work, improvisation and movement the workshops provided an opportunity for people from different sectors of the community to work together in a fun, non-pressured environment.
The Time Machine workshop process has been a wonderful, inclusive experience. The workshop facilitators' delicate delivery and pacing of the process felt clear, starting slowly to build confidence and a relationship with the participants. This has built a loyal group of people who look forward to their sessions every week. The group that has been formed is a mixed group of ages, abilities and experience which hasn't been offered in our locality for a time and it is a lovely, positive thing to witness: a broad cross section of the community coming together in collaborative practice.
All workshops were free of charge through support from the Arts Council of England and Winchester City Council. The Occasion are keen to explore all opportunities with local groups to develop further initiatives in the future.

Theatre as it should be – a communal, passionate, imaginative celebration of life in all its facets.
I have never participated in a workshop that felt as inclusive, welcoming and creative as these sessions. I really hope that funders appreciate the impact that this opportunity would have on participants, as well as the example of good practice it would set for audiences and other arts practitioners.
It was fantastic – my confidence has improved and it’s been great to work with so many different people; older people, young, disabled/less-abled (chances like this are very few!) to create drama together.
